Day 8
Our drive to Banf was only 78 miles, check in time wasn't until 2pm at the Trailer Court Campground. We knew check out was at 11am so we left the Calgary area around 10:30. An uneventful trip found us pulling into the campground around 12:30.
We are in site 141, the first row nearest the campground entrance road. During the day a little noisy with the road but there is an overlook across the street so the view can't be beat. This site happens to be very open so we are able to get a satellite signal, it's full hookups 30amp only. One of the perks of the trip is the Canadain National Park pass we each received, the pass is good for two years so it will come in handy in the fall when we are back in the area.
A beautiful rainbow to end the day.
Day 9
Today the tour bus arrived about 9 to take us up to Lake Louise, a beautiful lake but much smaller than I thought it would be. We only had time for a short walk along the lake, not surprising it was very crowded but that's okay we'll be back in September for 5 nights, crowds should be much smaller then hopefully.
After our walk by Lake Louise our bus took us to Lake Louise Ski Resort where we took the Glacier Express gondola.
We enjoyed the brief stay in the area, we really look forward to September when we can do some hiking in the area with friends MonaLiza and Steve.
Until next time...
Nice start to a wonderful trip!

ReplyDeleteWhat highway are you taking up and back? I bet we are going to be near each other at some point. We are going to probably be in the Lake Louise area the last few days of August.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be in Fairbanks, Denali and Anchorage the early part of August then going to Homer, Seward, Palmer, Valdez, Tok (again) Skagway through the end of August. We won't be to Lake Louise until 9/12. I'm trying to stay up to date with the blog, as much as I can with limited internet at times. Let us know if we're crossing paths with you guys.
