Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, totally worn out, shouting "Wow...What a Ride!"

Our Home & Ride

5/1/2013

Our home is a 2012 Keystone Montana Mountaineer 295RKD, with 2 slides it is less than 300 sq ft. While being newbies when purchasing this RV we do like the floor plan, we had some very specific opinions on what we wanted, no shower or vanity in the bedroom and no looking through a dining area to see the TV and fireplace. Of course we had a budget that we tried to stick around, overall we are very happy with our purchase, we did have some issues the first year, hopefully they are all taken care of. We have purchased an extended warranty, time will tell whether or not that was a good choice.

Our ride is a 2012 GMC 2500HD, it is gas, again time will tell whether or not we should have or will change to a diesel. We do like the truck with it's extended cab, lots of room and comfortable. We will be adding a tire pressure monitoring system before we head west in the fall of 2013.

Our canoe is an Old Town 16 Saranac, we enjoy being out on the water when ever we can.

UPDATE: 1/2014

In January of 2014 while in TX we upgrade our truck to a 2012 Chevy 3500HD DRW, crew cab with a long bed.  Found a great deal and with less then 10k miles knew it had lots of life in it, they gave us great trade in for our gas truck so we couldn't pass it up.

UPDATE: 2/2014

In February 2014 we visited the Houston RV Show where we upgraded our RV to a 2014 Grand Design Solitude 369RL, a few more (5) feet and a third slide has given us a lot  more living space and the room to entertain inside.

UPDATE; 3/2017

We have been living in our 2014 Solitude for 3+ years and still love our home, you can look back over the years and see a few of the mods we've done. We've put over 25K miles on it and have been very pleases with it's performance. Grand Design is a new company in the RV playing field and have recently been purchased by Winnebego, time will tell if it was a good move, from the customer's perspective. Our Chevy has done well by us, from TX to VT to AZ to AK to TX, lots of miles with minimal issues.

  1. Good to see you are doing well. I know you will enjoy the Duramax power and economy. We got 12.2 MPG with ours on our trip to Az. when we met you at Destiny Rv in Goodyear, Thanksgiving week. Hope to cross paths again someday.

    1. Thanks for commenting on the blog, we had a good time meeting you both while at Destiny hope you made it back to the west coast safely. Our first trip with the new truck was only 35 miles but into the wind, avg 10 mpg so should get better as we go along. Hope to see you too again someday.
